*EXTREMELY RARE SPECIAL ORDER WINCHESTER MODEL 21 GRAND AMERICAN STYLE 3-BARREL SET. CAL: 20 ga., 28 ga., & 410. This spectacular set is built on a 20 ga. flat side frame with three sets of barrels. The 20 ga. barrels are 28” and choked WS-1 & WS-2, the 28 ga. barrels are 26” and choked Skeet/Skeet, and 410 barrels are 26” and choked IMP-MOD and IMP-CYL. All three sets of barrels have matted ventilated ribs with red ivory front beads and center beads. The breech end of the rib has milled panels with gold inlay “Custom Built by Winchester” and the gauge marking in gold. Each set of barrels is accompanied by a black tipped beavertail forearm and marked with the number of the barrel. The receiver is beautifully engraved with full coverage, very fine arabesque pattern scrolls with gold inlays of a woodcock and partridge in flight on the left and right sides. The floorplate is engraved with a standing spaniel and the trigger bow with a spaniel’s head. The engraver’s signature is on the floorplate just forward of the trigger guard. The trigger is gold plated, and the trigger plate is gold inlaid with arrows on either side and the letters “L” & “R”. The serial number on the top tang is gold inlaid. All three of the barrels have corresponding matching engraving, 1-3/4” over each chamber area and the 410 ga. and 28 ga. barrels have 1” of muzzle engraving with a single gold band. The 20 ga. barrels do not have muzzle engraving. All of the foreend irons are correspondingly engraved, and all of the concealed areas on the barrel, water tables, breech ends, ejectors, foreend iron, receiver water table and standing breech are engine turned (jeweled). The stock is 14-5/8” over the orig. leather covered pad and has a gold oval initial plate with the initials “DHP”. The grip cap is custom ordered with matching engraving and three gold line inlays. The entire set is contained in its orig. factory, maroon felt-lined brown leather trunk case with canvas and leather cover. Both case and cover bear the initials “D.H.P.” This spectacular shotgun is accompanied by a Cody Firearms Museum letter dated September 8, 1999 which indicates it was orig.ly completed on October 17, 1950. This letter completely identifies this shotgun and further indicates that it was returned to the factory on May 23, 1952 and the right barrel changed to improve cylinder choke. It indicates that in 1976 it was returned and custom engraved to order by “J. Kusmit” with gold inlays and re-stocked with Grand American style wood with “B” carving. It is additionally accompanied by copies of factory work orders and invoices detailing all of the work that was done at that time. Also accompanying is a reproduced page from “Winchester Finest, The Model 21” by Schwing indicating that another Model 21 with serial number 13593 was the only factory 3-barrel set in those calibers. This statement is obviously not correct. Also accompanied by a large photo album containing all of these documents plus numerous photographs of the work in progress and of the finished cased gun. Weight 7.55 pounds with the 20ga. barrels. SN 13242. CONDITION: Excellent plus, as new, retaining virtually all its orig. factory finish to both metal and wood.
