WINCHESTER MODEL 1873 SPECIAL ORDER RIFLE. CAL. 44 WCF. Standard grade rifle with 24″ oct. to round bbl, orig. front sight, replacement bbl sight with an early spiral knurled tang sight. The lower tang fitted with a single-set trigger. Uncheckered wood with straight stock and crescent steel buttplate with trap, the receiver orig.ly case colored. SN 252275 CONDITION: About good. The metal retains a mostly gray patina with traces of finish in the sheltered areas on the bbl. The receiver retains traces of case colors in the sheltered areas with the balances having turned silver then gray. The wood is sound with a dark hand-rubbed patina and some light mildew on the buttstock. Strong bore with good shine and scattered pitting. 4-44558 JL36 (1,000-2,000)
