ENGRAVED BELGIAN COPY OF A WINCHESTER MODEL 1866 MUSKET. CAL. 44RF. Very good copy of a 66 musket with 27″ bbl, 7/8 magazine, long wood forearm with three bbl bands, uncheckered wood with straight stock and musket buttplate with sliding trap. The stock and middle bbl band have wide sling swivels. The receiver and bbl bands are engraved with leaf, vine and floral patterns having about 75% coverage. Left side of receiver has Belgian proof marks and “341”. Left side of bbl is marked with Belgian proof marks and an anchor. The front sight is square based for a socket bayonet and the rear sight is of the standard Henry style musket sight. The right side of the wrist is crudely carved with the initials “EGO” SN 50845 CONDITION: Good to very good. The bbl retains a dark brown patina with scattered heavy pitting. The receiver has a smooth medium dark mustard patina. The wood is sound, dark and oil stained with a smooth hand polished patina and a few small dings and gouges.
