WINCHESTER MODEL 1866 SADDLE RING CARBINE. CAL. 44RF. Standard late carbine with 20″ bbl, full magazine with square base front sight and reverse mounted carbine ladder sight dated 1873 on the inside of the ladder. Uncheckered wood with straight stock and steel buttplate with brass sliding trap. Saddle ring and staple mounted on the left side of the receiver. SN 160157 CONDITION: Good. The bbl and magazine tube retain a dark plum-brown patina with fine pitting, clear bbl address. The receiver is reasonably sharp, having been cleaned a long time ago and now beginning to patinate with impressed cloth patterns on the right side. The wood is sound with scattered nicks and dings and retains most of an old refinish. Strong dark bore. 4-45480 JL325 (2,500-3,500)
