SPECIAL ORDER WINCHESTER HIGH WALL SINGLE SHOT RIFLE. CAL: 32-40. 29-7/8” oct. bbl. The factory letter verifies all features of the gun. It was shipped August 11, 1894 with single set triggers, checkered stock with pistol grip and cheek piece, midrange and wind gauge sights, Swiss buttplate and no rear slot cut in the bbl. The bbl weight “4” is stamped into the bottom of the bbl. The caliber marking on the bbl appears to have been stamped with individual dies. The bbl marking is extremely sharp, possibly a re-roll. SN 68538 CONDITION: The case hardening colors on the action are very light. Plating on the buttplate and blue on the sights appear to be orig.. The varnish on the wood also appears to be orig. but the balance appears to be an expert restoration. Action is tight. Fine bright bore. 4-45174 (3,500-5,500)
