The ramrod guide and buttstock are fitted with narrow sling swivels. The right front flat of the bbls is fitted with iron bayonet lugs. The stock is nicely figured 1-pc walnut with checkered wrist and small European cheek piece. The orig. ramrod is steel with cupped tip. The most unusual feature in this case is the accompanying bayonet with its 19-3/4″ bright polished yaghtahan blade with triple unstopped fullers marked on the right ricasso “FH”. It has an iron cruciform hand guard with ribbed gutta percha handle and small faceted pommel cap. The bayonet is accompanied by its iron sheath with frog stud. The case is missing several additional tools. An extremely rare and unusual set. SN 9148 CONDITION: The rifle is excellent plus with the bbls retaining all of a beautiful brown restored finish retaining virtually all its beautiful orig. patterns. The top rib may have had a pinned repair. Locks, hammers, trigger guard and buttplate are all orig. Locks, hammers and top tang retain virtually all their fine case colors. Trigger guard retains most of its orig. bright blue and the buttplate about 80% blue. Wood is sound and retains most of its orig. bright finish. The bayonet blade is brilliant with the hand guard and iron fittings retaining a gray metal color. The handle is excellent, the sheath is mostly a gray metal color. The accessories are generally excellent. Consignor states that the pervious owner, upon discovering that moths had almost destroyed the case lining, tore it out with the intention of relining it which has not been accomplished. Consignor also states that the case was apparently stored in a humid area, which caused the bbls to rust and therefore prompted restoration. 4-45503 JL335 (7,500-12,500)
