COLT SINGLE ACTION ARMY REVOLVER. CAL. 45 Colt. Usual configuration with 7-1/8″ bbl and 1-pc wood grips having a brass diamond inlay on each side. Trigger guard has been modified to square back 1851 Navy style. 1-line bbl address and 2-line patent markings. Accompanied by a Colt Factory letter identifying this revolver as having left the factory with a 7-1/2″ bbl, blue finish and rubber grips in a shipment of two guns to “J.F. SCHMELZER & SONS KANSAS CITY, KANSAS” on December 14, 1898. SN 181838 CONDITION: As noted, bbl reduced to its present length with front sight replaced, trigger guard modified and grips are replacements. No orig. finish remains being a dark brown patina overall with evidence of artificial aging on bbl. Cylinder pin, bushing and cross bolt are replacements. Several of the screws are battered. Bore with good rifling is dark and pitted. 4-45363 JL148 (500-1,000)
