CUSTER RANGE SINGLE ACTION ARMY ARTILLERY MODEL. CAL. 45 Colt. Typical artillery model with 5-1/2″ altered bbl with small “A” inspector marks on the various parts incl. the cylinder, back strap, trigger guard and bbl. This revolver is unusual in that it is all matching, except the bbl, which is numbered 3181. It has a bullseye ejector rod head with a second type ejector rod housing on a first type bbl, 1-pc walnut grips with a legible “OWA” cartouche. SN 4635 CONDITION: Good to very good. Bbl retains 25-30% thin blue-brown with the balance a fine patina. Ejector rod housing is a gray patina with fine pitting, frame is mostly a light gray patina. Trigger guard and back strap are mostly a gray-brown patina with blue in the sheltered areas and plum around the trigger guard. Grips show moderate wear and likely are not orig. to this revolver. Cartouche possibly a re-stamp, strong bright bore. Two or three replaced screws, others slightly battered. 4-45479 JL309 (5,000-10,000)
