COLT MODEL 1849 POCKET REVOLVER. CAL. 31. Usual configuration with 4″ bbl, 1-line New York address, 1-pc walnut grips with brass grip frame. Presentation on the back strap reads “PRESENTED TO MAJ. RE STRATTON/BY JOHN J HYER SEPT. 2 1861”. SN 190196 CONDITION: Good to very good, all matching except the wedge which is unnumbered and rust pitted. No orig. finish remains being a gray-brown patina overall with slightly battered screws. Trigger guard has traces of orig. silver-plating and the inscription while appearing to be authentic is worn. Grips retain about 95% orig. varnish and are probably not orig. to this revolver. The bore is strong but dark with a deep pit. 4-45490 Z305 (1,750-2,750)
