EXTREMELY RARE MARTIALLY MARKED COLT FIRST MODEL DRAGOON REVOLVER. Large frame Colt revolver. CAL. 44 with a 6-shot cylinder and 7-1/2″ round to oct. bbl. Grip straps and square back trigger guard of brass with 1-pc walnut grips having traces of orig. U.S. Government inspector cartouches. SN 7468 all matched, wedge unmarked. “Colt’s/Patent” marked on left side of frame with “U.S.” stamped beneath, oval cylinder stops and rolled scene on cylinder. CONDITION: Very good to fine. 10-20% orig. finish remains in some protected areas. All iron parts are uncleaned with a medium gray patina. Grip straps are lightly patinated. Grips still show traces of their orig. U.S. gov’t inspector’s marks. Most of the cylinder scene is still visible. It is rare to find a First Model with this much cylinder scene. Excellent example of an exceedingly rare early Colt revolver. 4-45417 (23,000-25,000)
