CASED COLT MODEL 1861 NAVY PERCUSSION REVOLVER. CAL. 36. Fine 61 Navy with 7-1/2″ round bbl, case color frame with silver-plated trigger guard and back strap, Naval battle cylinder scene with 1-pc fine old ivory grips with very deep relief Mexican eagle on the left side. Accompanied by an orig. Colt casing containing a Colt’s patent short angle spout flask and iron bullet mold with a packet of Johnston & Dow’s skin cartridges and an Eley cap tin. SN 12962 CONDITION: The bbl retains 92-94% bright glossy blue with some light scratches and thin spots on the sides of the bbl. There are several small nicks by the wedge slot. The rammer retains about 90% case colors, slightly faded toward the end. The frame retains 85-90% faded case colors with the balance turned silver. The grip frame retains 70-75% thin, silver-plating. The cylinder retains about 90% Naval battle scene with about 50% thin orig. blue and most of its orig. safety pins. The grips are spectacular with an age line on each side but were not made for this revolver. They are too narrow for the frame and hang over at the heel. The bore is excellent, bright and shiny. The flask retains no orig. finish being a medium mustard patina with a small dent in the bottom as well as one on the top. The mold is well used with light pitting on the outside and a brass bushing installed in the conical cavity. The pack of skin cartridges is taped with moderate soil. The case is sound and retains 90-95% of its orig. varnish. 4-45498 Z300 (5,000-8,000)
