HARRINGTON EXPERIMENTAL OR PROTOTYPE PERCUSSION VOLLEY GUN. CAL. 40. Made by Henry Harrington of Southbridge, Mass., one of very few known. It has a 7-shot bbl cluster, 23″ long with brass muzzle ring having a bead front sight. The center section of the bbl is hexagonal having very coarse machined surface with a 5-1/8″ section of turned brass toward the chamber end. The receiver and chamber area are round iron about 2-1/4″ dia. with a removable chamber. The hammer is side mounted to the iron frame with long upper and lower tangs and an iron trigger guard that also serves as a pistol grip. The stock is uncheckered with a smooth steel buttplate. There is a small number “15” in two places on the bottom of the receiver. The chamber is removed by simply cocking the hammer and sliding it out of the top. The chamber is also numbered “15”. CONDITION: About very good. The brass has been polished bright. The iron of the receiver, trigger guard and buttplate have all been cleaned bright. The stock has a repaired break through the wrist with a splice by the right lower tang and retains most of a refinish, presumably accomplished during the repairs. A most unusual and rare volley gun. 4-45169 JL268 (3,000-4,500)
