PAIR OF UNMARKED SAW-HANDLE PERCUSSION TARGET PISTOLS. CAL. 46. Unmarked 10″ oct. bbls with tiny dovetailed front sights and fixed rear sights that appear to have been moved from the top tang out onto the bbls. Mounted in 1-pc half stocks with saw-handle grips having swelled butts with silver bands. The bbls are secured with a single wedge through German silver escutcheons. The muzzle end of the bbls have a rail with faceted guides containing wooden ramrods with brass tips. The trigger guards are narrow steel with long front tangs having pineapple finials. The lock plates and hammers are lightly engraved and marked “H. ELWELL/WARRANTED” in an oval in front of the hammers. CONDITION: Good to very good, no orig. finish remains. The metal having been cleaned bright and polished with scattered fine pitting, heavier around the nipple areas. One pistol has a break in the stock through the action and the other is sound with both retaining a fine hand-polished patina. 4-45494 Z302 (3,000-4,000)
