BEAUTIFULLY CARVED EARLY POWDER HORN. Wonderfully carved, probably European, steer horn powder horn, medium size, overall about 15″including a large base plug that is deep relief carved in artichoke pattern with a fine knob and brass hanger ring. The plug is secured with small iron nails and the large end is evenly scalloped around the circumference. About 7″ of the spout end are deep relief carved with crosshatched patterns, small trees and scallops in fine detail. All together a very beautiful horn. CONDITION: One small crack in the main body otherwise completely orig. on intact. 4-45464 JL285 (400-700)
