WHEELOCK STYLE POWDER HORN. Made of light yellow cows horn, approximately 9″ on the long side x 4-3/8″ wide x 1-1/4″ thick with an oval iron base, scalloped small end with brass charging spout with spring loaded gate. The outer side is decorated with beautifully scimshawed leaf and vine patterns and an intricate round center pattern. The back side is decorated with three patterns in concentric circles and dashes. CONDITION: Very good to excellent. The iron has a deep brown patina with moderate pitting. The brass also has a dark brown patina. The body is fine with a wonderful aged yellow patina. 4-45473 JL312 (500-1,000)
