US SURCHARGED CHARLEVILLE FLINTLOCK MUSKET.

US SURCHARGED CHARLEVILLE FLINTLOCK MUSKET. CAL. about 75. Original flint musket with 44-3/4″ bbl. Three bb. bands with front sight on the rear split band, bayonet lug at the muzzle with a button head ramrod. Iron mounted with long swelled trigger guard tangs, “US” at the back of the lock plate and “U.STATES” branded on the stock at the toe. CONDITION: Good to very good. All the metal has a dark brown patina with scattered surface rust and heavy pitting around the flash pan and on the lock plate with more lighter pitting around the bbl channel. The stock has a crack at the front of the lock plate and there are a few minor bug holes. There are a few small splinters missing from the front bbl channel. The wood retains a fine old hand polished patina. There is a large chip missing by the right top tang. Mechanics are fine. 4-45454 JL252 (1,500-2,500)
