UNIQUE R. FARRINGTON ELLWELL PRINTERS PROOF OR COLOR PALETTE FOR WINCHESTER ADVERTISING PRINT. Beautiful and famous Ellwell print with 18-7/8″ x 14-1/8″ image on a 24″ x 18″ page with eight blocks of color with their codes on the bottom border. The print depicts a hunter and guide in a birch bark canoe peering around a rock at a large bull-moose standing in the water. The border has the printers’ centering marks at the top and bottom and both sides. It is copyrighted by Winchester. This is the exact one illustrated in Robert Strauss’ book on Gun Advertising. CONDITION: About excellent. Only one tiny nick in one edge with no apparent creases or tears. The image is sharp and clear and the colors crisp and bright. The border is slightly yellowed with some light soil, not effecting the image. A scarce print in rare configuration. 4-45325 JL407 (1,750-3,250)
