UNIQUE UMC CARTRIDGE CO. PRINTERS’ PROOF OR COLOR PALETTE CALENDAR PRINT. Image size is 27″ x 15″ on a 29″ x 17″ page advertising the Union Metallic Cartridge Co., depicting dock workers, who appear to be South American, off-loading cases of ammunition from a ship. The side of the dock is imprinted with the UMC logo and “AMERICA’S STANDARD AMMUNITION” and has the image of a dovetailed wooden case of 44-40 hollow point black powder ammunition. The calendar space is blank and there are seven blocks of color with their codes laid out on the lower left edge with the printers centering marks at the top. This is the exact one illustrated in Robert Strauss’ book on Gun Advertising. CONDITION: Fine. The image is sharp and clear with the colors crisp and bright. There is a tear at the bottom and small pieces missing from the upper left edge. The white border is slightly yellowed and lightly soiled. A fine and rare print. 4-45324 JL406 (1,500-3,000)
