BRITISH ARTILLERY OFFICERS HANGAR. Early hangar with 29-3/8″ very curved blade, flat ground with 7-1/2″ back grind at the tip, 1-3/8″ at the ricasso, marked on the right “OSBORN & GUNBY/SWORD CUTLERS/TO HIS/MAJESTY”. The blade is decorated with deeply etched trophy of arms and floral decoration on both sides. Brass hand guard with ball quillion and short langettes, single knuckle bow with brass back, fish skin wrap with plain and twisted silver wire wrap. Accompanied by its orig. brass scabbard with replaced narrow iron drag and two iron hanger rings. CONDITION: Blade has been cleaned and retains most of its fine etching patterns with several nicks on the cutting edge. The brass handle is a dark patina missing some of its wire wrap with the fish skin intact. The scabbard is nicked, dented and dinged with the aforementioned replaced drag. 4-45115 JL368 (400-700)
