1842 PATTERN NON-REGULATION STAFF AND FIELD OFFICER’S SWORD. Made by Horster with 31″ slightly curved blade with one wide and one narrow fuller, etched on each side with stands of arms, “U.S.” on the left side and an American eagle on the right side, brass foliate hand guard with single knuckle bow and fish skin-wrapped handle, missing its twisted wire wrap. The scabbard is sewn leather with two brass hangers and a brass drag, the leather dyed brown. CONDITION: As previously noted. The blade retains 90% orig. polish with scattered spots of cleaned rust and staining. Hand guard with good patina and the handle wrap intact. The scabbard is sound with a crackled surface and good patina on the brass. 9-79883 JL19 (300-500)
