GOOD LOT OF CIVIL WAR AND EARLIER NEWSPAPERS, DOCUMENTS, ENVELOPES, PHOTOGRAPHS, PRINT AND DISCHARGE, ETC. A mixed lot consisting of early newspapers dated NY: 1812, Phila.:1803, N.Y.:1862, Norfolk (Va.): 1812 and Rochester:1864. Three full color Civil War patriotic envelopes; Confederate $10 bill, Discharge for Wm. H. Ely, 8th NY(1861), Discharge for Chas. A. Stewart 77th NY (1864) and framed discharge for Charles McKill, 15th U.S. Infantry (1877). U.S. Military Telegraph to Lt. Col. Easton (re: horses, mules and wagons for artillery) from Nashville. 1882 print of Libby Prison (Barlow, Richmond, Va.) In old Victorian frame. Framed albumen photograph (image size 6″ X 8″) of senior officer and his staff of five and two civilian gentleman standing on a white painted columned porch. CdV of a seated woman “Belle F. Robins Scott, 1864.” Quarter plate tintype of a standing Zouave soldier in front of painted backdrop, cased. Sixth plate tintype of standing infantryman, no case. Sixth plate tintype of seated soldier with half case and thumbnail tintype of soldier, cased. CONDITION: A good to very good, newspapers are well preserved, envelopes are crisp, Confederate $10 note is poor with tape repairs, discharges are all very good. Albumen is very nice, frame is poor. All tintypes are dark but images are visible. The standing Zouave is clear with unfortunate flexing and surface scratching…was once a great image, now just OK. 4-45232; CW (1,000-1,500)
