FINE AMERICAN MILITARY INDIAN WAR PERIOD STAFF CAPTAIN’S UNDRESS UNIFORM SACK COAT. An excellent example of a non-regulation staff officer’s fatigue uniform coat manufactured by private tailor “John G. Haas, Lancaster, Pa.” and so tagged at the back of the neck. This finely tailored and made officer’s coat is of black wool with dark green tape edge decoration at the edges of the fall-front collar and down the breast. The five-button front has Horstmann marked 3-piece U.S. staff officer buttons. The functional cuffs have three buttons each. The sack type coat is straight without vents and is only partially lined at the breast and shoulders. Sleeves are lined in a striped white polished cotton. The interior has flat felled seams with all edges trimmed in dark green silk. There are two large interior pockets. Each shoulder bears its orig. Captain of Staff shoulder strap rank insignia. An excellent example of finely made (and costly) American Indian War period officers fatigue coat. CONDITION: Excellent. The coat has only minor moth spots here and there. The edge trim is worn a bit at the top breast. All buttons match and are orig., the label is clear. 4-45403 CW (1,000-1,500)
