MODIFIED SHARPS MODEL 1874 RIFLE. CAL. approx. 40. 24” round bbl, not a Sharps bbl as it appears to be the same diameter from front to rear. The number on the tang has been drilled out but the complete number is on the forearm that was made for an oct. bbl. The lever has been crudely altered with a wielded extension. The Lyman tang sight is for a more rounded tang and is attached with one wood screw and one metal screw. There are plugged holes in the bbl where the orig. rear sight was located. A front globe type is not a Sharps product. SN C53094 CONDITION: Rust-brown patina with moderate surface rust at the front of the bbl. Gray-brown smooth patina on receiver, traces of casehardening on the lock plate. The stock is cracked from the rear of the upper tang. The forearm has some crack repairs on the left side. The grip cap has been replaced with a piece of horn. The wood still retains over half the varnish. The action is good, bore is lightly pitted but bright. 4-45107 X11 (2,500-4,500)
