1816 MUSKET WITH REMINGTON CONVERSION. CAL. 69. This musket has a 41-1/2″ bbl including the breech plug, early split front bbl band with sight on the front strap and the bayonet lug is on the top of the bbl. It has the 800yd. long range sight and the lock plate marking of Remington dated “1858” with the Maynard tape primer and the breech plug is dated “1857”. The metal is cleaned to white. Usual walnut stock with oval cartouche on the left side flat opposite the lock and another oval cartouche with unit numbers on the comb above the buttplate tang. CONDITION: Cleaned as noted, with heavy pitting around the nipple area and up the bbl. The lock plate and hammer retain most of a plum-brown patina. The wood is sound with usual handling and use, nicks and dings and a fine hand-rubbed patina. The trigger guard swivel is cracked. The nipple and clean out screws are replacements. 4-45689 Z191 (1,250-1,750)
