LARGE BRONZE CENSER.Ming period (1368-1644), China. Archaic ritual vessel in the Ting form. Feet with animal masks. Body decorated with cicada motifs. Bands of T’ao T’ieh masks around the mouth. With “heaven soaring” handles. Lid with 3 water buffaloes and pierced with a wan character. Borders of Ling Chih and dragons on a thunder meander ground. Carved fitted rosewood stand.
