CARVED MARBLE BUST TOGETHER WITH A PEDESTAL. Circa 1894, Italy. The bust carved of a young woman wearing a kerchief and cape over a lace blouse, a pendant around her neck inscribed with “S”, the bust trimmed in floral garland, the kerchief with floral carved decoration. At the base of the bust “GALLERIA F. Eli LAPINI / FIRENZE” and inscribed with the date “1894”. The accompanying pedestal of Corinthian form with fluted column continuing to a bulbous urn form lower section on a molded socle above an octagonal shaped plinth. SIZE: Bust: 17″ h x 14-3/4″ w. Pedestal: 44-3/4″ h. CONDITION: Bust with small old chips at tips of scarf in areas of floral garland, and with surface soiling. Pedestal with old repair at top platform and at midpoint of column, also with surface soiling and with general small chips and abrasion. Good overall. 9-90154 (1,000-2,000)
