FINE BELLE EPOQUE MARBLE BUST ACCOMPANIED BY PEDESTAL. Late 19th century, probably France or Italy. The bust of a young woman posed coquetishly, her hair in a bow-tied ribbon with fine features and smile, carved with a ruffled blouse fastened with a rose on a flared tapering pedestal with rectangular base signed at the back “E. Fortin” joined to a molded socle. The accompanying marble pedestal of classical form on a stepped molded socle and octagonal plinth. SIZE: Bust carving: 28-1/2″ h with socle. Pedestal: 40-1/2″ h. CONDITION: The bust in generally good condition with light soiling, the socle with tight hairline crack at base, pedestal with old chips and abrasions on edges.
