RENAISSANCE REVIVAL WALNUT CONSOLE. Third quarter 19th century, probably Boston or New York. The rectangular top with molded cut corners fitted with a shaped splash guard with burl panels centering a floral rosette beneath foliate carved cresting. The cabinet fitted with a single paneled drawer with burl inset above a single molded cabinet door framing a large shield form cartouche applied with carved foliate borders, the ends with draped tassels, flanked by engaged foliate carved balusters, the apron fitted with a concealed slipper drawer. The recessed end panels with burl veneer. The whole with gilt incised trim and decoration. SIZE: Overall: 58″ h x 35-3/4″ w x 19-3/4″ d. PROVENANCE: From a Maine estate. CONDITION: Generally very good with original dry surfaces, in need of cosmetic cleaning and repolishing. 7-70400 (600-800)
