RARE ROOKWOOD POTTERY CANDY BOX, SHAPE 21. Circa 1887, Cincinnati, Ohio. With artist’s initials “A.V.B.” for Artus Van Briggle. the square box with fitted lid in mottled brown and yellow decorated overall with five petal flowers within incised foliate designs, the box applied with loop handles, the lid with scarab form knop, the base with incised markings of Rookwood Pottery with single flame above impressed mark “21C” for model and size, above an impressed “W7″, the maker’s initials scratched into the corner of the base. SIZE: 2-3/4″ h x 5″ l x 4-1/2” w. CONDITION: One handle has been reattached, otherwise good. 9-90934 (500-1,000)
