LOT OF COLT 49 POCKET REVOLVER, HOLSTER AND POWDER HORN. CAL. 31. Colt Model 1849 pocket revolver with 5″ oct. bbl, 2-line New York address, brass grip frame and 1-pc walnut grips. Accompanied by a period black flap holster with button closure and a small flat sided European cows horn powder horn that is 8-1/4″ on the outside edge x 3-1/4″ across the base x 1″ thick. The spout is a carved ducks head with ebony eyes. The sides are beautifully scrimshawed with riders on horseback wearing skirts with long hair and tri-corn hats firing flintlock pistols at each other. The inside edge is scrimshawed “ANNO” and the back edge scrimshawed “MDCCLIIII”. The base plug is dark horn secured with wooden pegs and brass pins. CONDITION: Revolver is about good, no orig. finish remains being a silver-brown patina. Cylinder is mismatched, grips are fine with 25-30% orig. varnish, strong dark bore. Holster is poor with torn belt loop and is dry and crackled. Powder flask is fine with one large and one small bug bites on the one image along with bug bites on the edges and a couple of other spots. 4-45761 Z451 (500-1,000)
