REGENCY FRUITWOOD WRITING TABLE.

Early 19th century, England. The rectangular top inlaid with ebony string inlay terminating at corners with scrolls and diamonds and having bead work edge, retaining its original removable book rest. The top hinge and fitted with adjustable brass mechanism, allowing the top to be used for writing or reading. When opened revealing interior storage compartment lined with tan velvet. The frieze having inlay and beading similar to the top, one end fitted with shallow drawer for storing writing implements. All atop a reeded post with flattened melon base, above three well carved ball & claw feet with scrolled knees. SIZE: 27″ h x 17″ w x 15″ d.
