1&2) Covered Amphorae, #588 #588, with scenes of Achilles killing the Queen of Amazons “Penthesilea” and Dionysus and his son Oinopion.3) Covered Krater, #656, with scene of the taking of Hecter from Andromeda. 4) Covered Krater, #644, with scene of the bringing of gifts to the newly-wed bride. 5) Extra cover that matches #3. SIZE: 1&2) 12″ h. 3) 16″ h. 4) 17″ h. 5) 8-1/2″d. PROVENANCE: The Estate of Anthony M. Kurland Jr of Maine. Archaeologist with degree from Yale and PhD from Harvard.
