USS GEORGIA BRONZE PLAQUE. Presented in 1907, the ship was a United States Navy Virginia-class battleship that was launched by the Bath Iron Works of Bath, Maine on 11 October 1904. The plaque has a bas relief of sailors centered with a ship at sea over the following verse: “Trophy presented annually by direction of the President of the United States to the most efficient vessel in her class in naval engineering”. Impressed with presentation date and ship name verso. Also at top margin of front. REFERENCE: Harris & Ewing, page 322 of Military And Naval America by Harrison Summers Kerrick, published 1916.
