CELIA THAXTER (American, 1835-1894) HAND PAINTED CHINA PLATE.

19th century hand painted China plate with violets and poetic verse signed by New Hampshire poet and China decorator Celia Thaxter. On reverse is China mark “H & Co.” and CT monogram and dated 1882. Four lines of poetic verse on front, possibly an original composition for this plate. “Heaven send thee winged joys to fill thy sky, / Winnowing with dawn the doubtful dark away, / Show thee the morning star that burns on high, / and touch thy life with rosy tints of day. / Celia Thaxter”.
