CELIA THAXTER (American, 1835-1894) HAND PAINTED CHINA PLATE.19th century hand painted China plate with violets and poetic verse signed by New Hampshire poet and China decorator Celia Thaxter. On reverse is China mark “H & Co.” and CT monogram and dated 1882. Four lines of poetic verse on front, possibly an original composition for this plate. “Heaven send thee winged joys to fill thy sky, / Winnowing with dawn the doubtful dark away, / Show thee the morning star that burns on high, / and touch thy life with rosy tints of day. / Celia Thaxter”.
