RARE NATIVE AMERICAN WITH BOW IRON WEATHERVANE. Circa 1888, New England. This sheet iron example with graphic chisel cut and pierced figure holding a bow and arrow with quiver crouching on a panel with the work “TOTE” (The Order of the Red Man) in cutout letters. The reverse with “SM” followed by “88” welded to the bottom area of tunic. Additionally with two square nuts welded as rod attachment. NOTE: Weathervane found in upstate New York. Also for nearly identical larger example (in the Shelburne Museum collection), see “Weathervanes” by Charles Klamkin, p. 143. SIZE: 25″ T.
