PORTSMOUTH SHERATON INLAID MAHOGANY CHEST OF DRAWERS.First quarter 19th century, Portsmouth, NH. Mahogany case with molded rectangular top having bowed front with cookie corners having mahogany banded drawer fronts divided in three sections. The outer panels rectangular with burl satin wood, the center panel oval all banded with string inlay featuring rope-work pattern in satinwood and ebony. The full length legs with turned elements on the top and bottom of the case terminating in tall turned tapering feet. The apron scalloped. Drawers of dovetailed construction and cock beading having Sheraton style brasses. SIZE: 43″ H, 42″ L, 20-1/2″ D. CONDITION: Very good with fine old refinish having minor chip on right corner and replaced brasses. 9-94080 (6,000-8,000) – Lot 2599
