FRAMED TWO DOCUMENTS DATED JUNE, 1812. June 9, 1812 Division Orders issued to the officers of the 17th Division of the Maine State Militia, to arm and equip the troops under their command as “the season of the year for improvement in discipline has arrived. The situation of our country calls loudly upon all to be ready and punctual to defend its rights.” These orders were received at Augusta and issued as battalion orders in the second document dated June 17, 1812. The following day; June 18, 1812 the United States declared war against England. Housed in a modern frame with cutout white matte and free mounted letters. SIZE: Overall: 19-1/2″ x 24-1/4″. CONDITION: Generally very good. Some small edge losses and minor foxing. 9-92897 (300-500)
