FRAMED DANIEL WEBSTER (1782-1852) ALS. Three written pages, two integral leafs bound at center, inscribed and dated, January 6, 1814, excerpt: ” Buonaparte’s disasters produce a visible effect here. The Administration seems to be appalled. It seems, at present to be suspending its war measures, & taking time to consider, & perhaps, also, to ascertain whether the voice on the Party is still for war….” excerpt: “Monroe and Armstrong cannot go on long together. I have no doubt Armstrong will fall Via Democratic Press…”, Signed D. Webster. Housed in a modern silver gilt frame, and matted with copy of letter cover page, engraving portrait of Webster in a top hat, and typed transcriptions. SIZE: Each page: 9 3/4″ x 7 3/4″ Overall: 22″ x 37″ CONDITION: India ink has light fading, fold creases, typical for age. 9-90293 (300-500)
