CARVED BOWL. Circa 1767, possibly Scandinavia. The hardwood deep bowl carved with figures of hunters alternating with animal pelts, the foot of the bowl in the form of four pair of shoed feet, the soles of the feet with incised carving of the date “1767”, additionally with four symbols or runes, possibly letters (see photo). A nice primitive folk art example with unknown history. SIZE: 4-1/2″ h x 6-1/2″ dia. PROVENANCE: From a fine Kentucky Estate. CONDITION: Very good, with dark patina, old loss to the toe of one shoe. 9-92228 (800-1,200)
