UNUSUAL CARVED AND GILT MIRROR. First quarter 19th century or earlier, Continental. The rectangular mirror plate within a shaped and molded frame decorated with nautilus shells and aquatic plants beneath a shaped crest of scrolling leaf tips centering a stylized shell with tassel garland further centering two inverted scallop shells on an incised ground. The pendant apron with similar scrolling leaf tips centering a four-layered graduated scallop shell. SIZE: 39-1/2″ h x 20-3/4″ w. CONDITION: Mirror retains original gilded surfaces. Mirror plate probably later. Very good overall. 9-90176 (1,000-2,000)
