TWO PAIR OF FIGURED MAPLE PENCIL POST BEDS. First half 20th century, New England. The group consists of a pair of canopy beds with swelled ring-turned posts and with paneled headboards. The first pair with elements of original framing present, the posts nicely reeded. The second pair with well figured swelled posts and surmounted by urn-form finials. All beds offered with original wood rails. NOTE: Beds of this nature with block wood rails were originally designed for a custom drop-in box spring allowing the use of the full width of the bed, if needed. SIZE: 1) First pair: 67-1/2″ h without canopy. Exterior: 42-1/2″ w x 79-3/4″ l. Interior: 38-1/2″ w x 74-3/4″ l. 2) Second pair: 65″ h overall. Exterior: 38″ w x 81″ l. Interior: 35-3/4″ w x 74″ l. CONDITION: Very good, with original surfaces. Elements of canopy frame in need of some restoration and refurbishing. 9-93025 (800-1,200)
