CHIPPENDALE CARVED MAHOGANY CAMEL BACK SETTEE. Late 18th/early 19th century, United Kingdom. The serpentine crest rail continuing to outscrolled arms on incurved supports, the whole overupholstered, centering rectangular seat frame with cushion raised on three frontal acanthus carved cabriole legs terminating in boldly carved claw and ball feet. The two rear legs molded and backswept. SIZE: Back: 36″ h. Overall: 86″ l. CONDITION: Structurally very good. Exposed legs retain old if not original surfaces. The settee now covered in a cream, yellow and gold floral silk brocade. The fabric has been torn and partially removed at the back corners for inspection of frame. 9-90189 (2,000-4,000)
