CLASSICAL MAHOGANY DAY BED WITH GILT METAL MOUNTS. First quarter 19th century, probably Russia. This fine diminutive example with remnants of maker’s label. The scrolling cyma curved ends, each with a paneled section, the end supports applied with scrolling brackets with gilt metal mounts centering the upholstered cushion set within shaped rails centering a gilt metal pierced cartouche of classical form. SIZE: 35-1/2″ h x 74″ l x 29-1/2″ d. PROVENANCE: Formerly the property of the late Lillian Berliowskey of Camden, Maine, of Russian heritage. CONDITION: The day bed in very fine original condition with professional French repolishing. Retains early if not original silk covering, in need of replacement. 9-90181 (1,000-2,000)
