RARE AND UNUSUAL SHERATON MAHOGANY TILT TOP CANDLESTAND. Second quarter 19th century, probably Connecticut or New York. The hinged rectangular top with rounded corners pivoting on the turned and vase form standard, the vase carved with three oak leaves in deep relief, raised on tripod scrolling legs terminating in rolled feet, each leg incised and scoop carved with delicate scrolling foliate vinery. SIZE: 27″ h. Top: 21-3/4″ x 17-1/4″. PROVENANCE: From a Maine estate. CONDITION: Very good with original surfaces. 7-70396 (500-700)
