ASSEMBLED SET OF BRASS FIREPLACE EQUIPMENT.

Late 18th through mid-19th century, New England and New York. To include: a three-fold brass wire fire screen with floral cresting; a set of brass fireplace tools with turned faceted handles, the holder stand labeled “HOWES”; a serpentine pierced brass fender raised on flattened cast brass feet and fitted with turned brass tool holders at the ends; and a fine pair of Chippendale brass andirons, probably New York, each with faceted turned finials above a shaft with urn turned capital joined to a faceted standard on a round turned base joined to the billet bar fitted with brass plate and decorative pierced brass fence terminating in brass support and turned log stop, each andiron raised on arched double spurred legs on ball feet. SIZE: Screen: 34-1/2″ h x 55″ w overall. Fender: 23″ h (with attached tool holders) x approx 47″ l overall. Andirons: 22-1/2″ h x 23-1/2″ d. PROVENANCE: From a fine private Long Island, NY collection. Christie’s Jan. 28, 2010 Lot 234. CONDITION: Generally very good. Cast iron log holders intact but worn.
