THREE COLOR BUTTOCKS BASKET. Circa 1840, New England. This split ash basket of fine ovoid form with elliptical handle affixed with square nails ending in black painted “God’s eyes”. The basket with bittersweet outer body and taupe painted interior. SIZE: 13″ dia. CONDITION: Basket retains bright original colors with minor splint losses at bottom.
