FINE REDWARE HANDLED STEW POT WITH DRIP AND SPONGE DECORATION. Early 19th century. Ovoid redware stew pot, turned and molded with pinched pouring lip and reeded applied handle having two incised rings on collar and raised foot. Pot has overall brick red glaze with striated brown band and brown sponge decoration on lip and handle. Accompanying this piece is a Rockingham glazed cover of later date, but suitable size. SIZE: 8″ h PROVENANCE: From a fine Kentucky Estate. CONDITION: Very good with a few chips on base rim and handle, and one 1/2″ pot stone chip on side. 9-92869 (400-800)
