EXCEPTIONAL WALLPAPER BOX. Circa 1848, Lichfield, Connecticut. Of typical form, the paperboard box covered in very unusual giraffe decorated wallpaper. The lid with chrome yellow base depicting a giraffe wearing a muzzle harness being led by a man and a woman within a tropical landscape. The body decorated with oval lozenges centering elongated diamond shapes within simulated wave surrounds. The interior lined with newspaper. SIZE: 9″ T x 11-1/4″ x 13″. CONDITION: Good overall with age appropriate minor losses and some staining. 9-91501 (1,000-2,000)
