TWO NORTHWEST COAST NATIVE AMERICAN CARVED HORN SPOONS.

19th century Northwest Coast American. 1) A darkened horn carved in two parts joined with horn peg with figures depicting Bear clan ancestors with inset mother of pearl. 2) Carved in horn in two parts joined with copper rivets depicting a single ancestor figure with tall helmet mounted with mother of pearl panel. Carved horn spoons were among the most powerful ceremonial objects of the Tlingit and Haida peoples. SIZE: 1) 9-1/2″ 2) 12-1/4″. PROVENANCE: The Estate of Anthony M. Kurland Jr of Maine.
