QUEEN ANNE MAPLE, PINE AND CHESTNUT DROPLEAF TABLE IN RED PAINT.Second quarter 18th century Newport RI. This rare signed example with the brand of “CHOATE” found on the underside of the top and beneath the leaves. The diminutive rectangular top with rounded ends fitted with hinged demilune hinged leaves projecting above the shaped and scalloped apron joined to round tapering cylindrical legs terminating in small pad feet. SIZE: 26-1/2″ h x 38-3/4″ l x 15-1/4″ w closed, 39″ l open. CONDITION: Surfaces with dry original red paint. Table with minor repairs overall including old professional repairs to top at hinges. One leaf with repaired horizontal split. Pad feet with re-glued chips. One scrolled return replaced. 9-93919 (1,500-3,000) – Lot 2380
